About Me:
I'm a cancer survivor through alternative means, no chemo no radiation. Learn more about this by visiting www.kathrynlive.com. I'm CEO of Ethical Impact, Inc. and host of Enlightened Business a podcast available on my web site (www.ethicalimpact.com) or throght ITunes.
My new dog Rowdy, young cat Tinker and faithful older cat Priscilla are all learning to live together in ways that would make the Middle East proud.
I blend spirit, and business and have for over 20 years. I'm now focused on helping others bring that blend into their work and life. visit my web site: www.ethicalimpact.com to know more.
I've never been able to separate spirit and the rest of my life, so my work has always reflected that interplay. My current work with ethics is an attempt to get the business world to recognize that business is always personal. As such it is good business to function with a sense of reverence for life - in all its forms. I don't believe that you can be truly ethical without that inherent appreciation.
Part of my work has involved working with complementary currencies. I used to work with a non-profit, The Time-Exchange Network that used time as a currency to promote and support volunteers, particularly those helping elders. People are credited with the time they volunter and then they can ask for help from anyone else in the system for their own needs, or take a class, etc.
One of the most basic imbalances is the current economic system. Interest distorts the system and ensures that money will flow to those that have more. Complementary currencies help balance that system by creating wealth for everyone. The cities of Boulder and Denver, Colorado are both looking at ways of introducing complementary currencies to help support specific areas and to strengthen their economies. Calgary, Canada already has a strong program.
Looking at things from a system perspective changes how you understand the leverage points for change. It allows you to shift the system instead of tilting at windmills. This point of view is sometimes hard to get across, but it makes a huge difference in organizations and in communities.
I'm a speaker and am available for meetings and conferences - see my web site - and I do classes, both on-line and land based. I teach for several local universities and you can see both web sites for other offerings.
